Time for YOU!

One of the very best things you can do for your emotional wellbeing is to take the time to focus on YOU!

We are so busy rushing from one thing to the next, worrying about the past and the future, that before you know it you're exhausted and feel like you've hit the ground. If you don't take time to recover from moments of stress, negativity, and business all the seemingly small things will all the sudden feel so much bigger. When you do not take the time to recover from moments of negativity, then these seemingly small things can begin to feel like much larger problems.

We are blessed to have people we can depend on. We know they are there for us whenever we need them. They help us be the best we can be. But while they are there for us or we them we have to realize we're all human and in the midst of everyday life we need to take the time to care for ourselves. YOU deserve and need time for yourself.

Being able to create happiness and positivity for yourself is the secret to leading a fulfilling life. When you master this skill and truly understand the benefit of it, then nothing will hold you back from being your best self.

When you think about taking time for yourself, have you thought...

If you regularly avoid being alone this could be a sign there are things within yourself that you don’t want to think about. Perhaps you have unhappy thoughts that begin to surface in moments of quiet and being surrounded by people helps you to steer clear of this negativity. This isn't everyone of course but as someone who's gone through trauma sometimes it's hard to alone with my thoughts. Just be aware of yourself, your feelings.

When it comes to having fun and finding entertainment, if you have a hard time doing this yourself and need others to create it for you, it may mean you aren’t entirely comfortable in your own company.

If you do not look forward to time away from work because then it leaves your mind free to wander, this can be a clear indication of unhappiness. When you do not look forward to time away from work because it leaves your mind with time to wander, then this can be a clear indication of unhappiness.

If you experience any or all of the above here are some ways you can focus on you:

Once you determine you are unhappy with one or more things in your life, then it is always within your power to make a change.

While it can be hard to do, finding the courage to say no and to end situations that are causing this unhappiness can bring you so much clarity and happiness once you get on the other side of the decision(s) to say no and follow-through.

It is so important to remember and remind yourself that YOU matter. Your self-esteem may be low for any number of reasons, and it may seem like an uphill challenge to get back to feeling good, especially if you've given so much of yourself to others over the years that you have forgotten how to give to yourself. This constant giving and taking care of others' needs can contribute to low self-esteem, as you most often feel as though your purpose is connected to the needs of others.

Take some time to reconnect to yourself and all of the things you love about your mind, and body, and life so far. Encourage those good feelings to the surface and allow them to remain.

One really special way to put yourself first while taking care of your mental and physical health, is making Yoga a regular practice in your life. It can help create harmony between the mind and the body through elements including physical postures (asanas), breathing techniques (pranayama), and meditation (dhyana). The holistic approach of yoga can help you calm the mind and find a sense of peace within.

One of the most appealing aspects of yoga is its adaptability. It can be beneficial for anyone, regardless of age or fitness level, who has a goal of self-improvement and self-awareness. The many different styles of yoga and levels make it accessible to all.

Whether you're looking for a gentle practice like Hatha yoga, which focuses on basic postures at a comfortable pace, or something more dynamic like Vinyasa yoga, which synchronizes breath with movement for a more vigorous workout, there's a type of yoga for everyone.

Regular yoga practice encourages mindfulness - a state of active, open attention to the present moment - which can lead to increased patience and a more positive outlook on life. When you're on your yoga mat, you're encouraged to focus on the here and now, leaving behind your worries and stress. This mental reset is one of the key reasons yoga can be so effective in promoting mental wellness.

Yoga can bring many positive impacts to your mental health and physical health, such as enhancing your thinking, boosting your mood, and promoting strength.

Enhances mental clarity: Regular yoga practice can lead to sharper focus and clearer thinking.

Reduces stress: Yoga is known for its calming effects, which can help in managing depression, stress, and anxiety.

Improves attention span and concentration: Yoga can help to maintain mental focus in everyday life.

Promotes better sleep: Relaxation techniques used in yoga can lead to improved sleep quality.

Boosts mood: Regular yoga practice can lead to an increase in hormones thought to contribute to happiness and mental wellbeing.

Enhances self-awareness: Yoga encourages you to listen to your body and mind, increasing self-awareness and promoting a deeper understanding of your emotions and thoughts.

If you've gotten anything out of this post may it be that YOU are important. YOU are deserving of time for yourself. What now?

I say Meet me on the mat. You won't regret it. This I promise.
